Related Product Information for anti-NAT6 antibody
Introduction: NAT6 is an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of acetyl groups from acetyl-CoA to acrylamines. NAT6 is located mainly in the cytoplasm and its activity has been recognized by its feasibility to acetylate the N-terminus of proteins using a ping-pong-like mechanism and by its substrate specificity. Given that the NAT6 gene maps to the chromosomal region 3p21.3, which includes at least one tumor suppressor gene, the function of NAT6 plays an important role in cancer.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the N-acetyltransferase family. N-acetyltransferases modify proteins by transferring acetyl groups from acetyl CoA to the N-termini of protein substrates. The encoded protein is a cytoplasmic N-acetyltransferase with a substrate specificity for proteins with an N-terminal methionine. This gene is located in the tumor suppressor gene region on chromosome 3p21.3 and the encoded protein may play a role in cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed. This gene overlaps and is on the same strand as hyaluronoglucosaminidase 3, and some transcripts of each gene share a portion of the first exon. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2011]

Uniprot Description

NAT6: Seems to be involved in N-acetylation. Acts on peptides with a N-terminal Met followed by Asp/Glu/Asn. May act as a tumor suppressor. Belongs to the acetyltransferase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Amino Acid Metabolism - tyrosine; EC 2.3.1.-; Amino Acid Metabolism - phenylalanine; Lipid Metabolism - glycerophospholipid; Tumor suppressor; Secondary Metabolites Metabolism - limonene and pinene degradation; Acetyltransferase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p21.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm

Molecular Function: N-acetyltransferase activity

Product Notes

The NAT6 nat6 (Catalog #AAA140286) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's N-Acetyltransferase 6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). NAT6 antibody has been tested by ELISA and Western blot analysis to assure specificity and reactivity. Since application varies, however, each investigation should be titrated by the reagent to obtain optimal results. Recommended dilution range for Western blot and Immunofluorescence analysis is 1:500 ~ 1000. Recommended starting dilution is 1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NAT6 nat6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "N-Acetyltransferase 6, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
