Related Product Information for anti-MAP2K2 antibody
Description: MAP2K2, also called MEK2, it is a dual specificity protein kinase that belongs to the MAP kinase kinase family. This kinase is known to play a critical role in mitogen growth factor signal transduction. It phosphorylates and thus activates MAPK1/ERK2 and MAPK2/ERK3. The activation of this kinase itself is dependent on the Ser/Thr phosphorylation by MAP kinase kinase kinases. Mutations in this gene cause cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome (CFC syndrome), a disease characterized by heart defects, mental retardation, and distinctive facial features similar to those found in Noonan syndrome.
Function: Catalyzes the concomitant phosphorylation of a threonine and a tyrosine residue in a Thr-Glu-Tyr sequence located in MAP kinases. Activates the ERK1 and ERK2 MAP kinases (By similarity).
Subunit Structure: Interacts with MORG1 (By similarity). Interacts with SGK1 (PubMed:19447520). Interacts with KSR1 (PubMed:10409742).
Post-translational Modifications: MAPKK is itself dependent on Ser/Thr phosphorylation for activity catalyzed by MAP kinase kinase kinases (RAF or MEKK1). Phosphorylated by MAP2K1/MEK1 (By similarity). Acetylation of Ser-222 and Ser-226 by Yersinia yopJ prevents phosphorylation and activation, thus blocking the MAPK signaling pathway.
Similarity: Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. STE Ser/Thr protein kinase family. MAP kinase kinase subfamily.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a dual specificity protein kinase that belongs to the MAP kinase kinase family. Mutations in this gene cause cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome (CFC syndrome), a disease characterized by heart defects, cognitive disability, and distinctive facial features similar to those found in Noonan syndrome. The inhibition or degradation of this kinase is also found to be involved in the pathogenesis of Yersinia and anthrax. A pseudogene, which is located on chromosome 7, has been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Catalyzes the concomitant phosphorylation of a threonine and a tyrosine residue in a Thr-Glu-Tyr sequence located in MAP kinases. Activates the ERK1 and ERK2 MAP kinases ().

Product Notes

The MAP2K2 map2k2 (Catalog #AAA9602399) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MAP2K2 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MAP2K2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), ELISA (EIA), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). ELISA: 1:10000 WB: 1:500-1:2000 ICC: 1:200-1:1000 FC/FACS: 1:200-1:400. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MAP2K2 map2k2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MAP2K2, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
