Related Product Information for anti-KRT7 antibody
Cytokeratins (CK) are intermediate filaments of epithelial cells, both in keratinizing tissue (ie., skin) and non-keratinizing cells (ie., mesothelial cells). Although not a traditional marker for endothelial cells, cytokeratins have also been found in some microvascular endothelial cells. Atleast 20 different cytokeratins (CK) in the molecular range of 40-70 kDa and isoelectric points of 5-8.5 can be identified using two dimensional gel electrophoresis. Biochemically, most members of the CK family fall into one of two classes, type I (acidic polypeptides) and type II (basic polypeptides). At least one member of the acidic family and one member of the basic family is expressed in all epithelial cells. Monoclonal antibodies to cytokeratin proteins can be useful markers for tumor identification and classification.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin gene family. The type II cytokeratins consist of basic or neutral proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains coexpressed during differentiation of simple and stratified epithelial tissues. This type II cytokeratin is specifically expressed in the simple epithelia lining the cavities of the internal organs and in the gland ducts and blood vessels. The genes encoding the type II cytokeratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q12-q13. Alternative splicing may result in several transcript variants; however, not all variants have been fully described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Blocks interferon-dependent interphase and stimulates DNA synthesis in cells. Involved in the translational regulation of the human papillomavirus type 16 E7 mRNA (HPV16 E7). Ref.3 Ref.9

Subunit structure: Heterotetramer of two type I and two type II keratins. Interacts with eukaryotic translation initiator factor 3 (eIF3) subunit EIF3S10 and with HPV16 E7. Ref.8 Ref.9

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm Ref.2.

Tissue specificity: Expressed in cultured epidermal, bronchial and mesothelial cells but absent in colon, ectocervix and liver. Observed throughout the glandular cells in the junction between stomach and esophagus but is absent in the esophagus. Ref.1 Ref.4

Induction: Up-regulated by retinoic acid. Ref.2

Post-translational modification: Arg-20 is dimethylated, probably to asymmetric dimethylarginine. Ref.7

Miscellaneous: There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) and II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa).

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the intermediate filament family.

Mass spectrometry: Molecular mass is 51203.48 Da from positions 2 - 469. Determined by MALDI. Ref.10

Sequence caution: The sequence CAA26956.2 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous translation. Wrong choice of CDS.

Product Notes

The KRT7 krt7 (Catalog #AAA395242) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Keratin 7 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Keratin 7 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Frozen. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KRT7 krt7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Keratin 7, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
