NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the inhibitor of DNA binding (ID) family, members of which are transcriptional regulators that contain a helix-loop-helix (HLH) domain but not a basic domain. Members of the ID family inhibit the functions of basic helix-loop-helix transcription factors in a dominant-negative manner by suppressing their heterodimerization partners through the HLH domains. This protein may play a role in negatively regulating cell differentiation. A pseudogene has been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

ID2: ID (inhibitor of DNA binding) HLH proteins lack a basic DNA-binding domain but are able to form heterodimers with other HLH proteins, thereby inhibiting DNA binding. ID-2 may be an inhibitor of tissue-specific gene expression. Heterodimer with other HLH proteins. Interacts with GATA4, IFI204 and NKX2-5. Interacts with NR0B2. Highly expressed in early fetal tissues, including those of the central nervous system.

Product Notes

The ID2 id2 (Catalog #AAA632550) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Inhibitor of DNA Binding 2, Dominant Negative Helix-loop-helix Protein (ID2, ID2A, ID2H, MGC26389) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Inhibitor of DNA Binding 2, Dominant Negative Helix-loop-helix Protein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Gel Shift Assay (GS/EMSA). Suitable for use in Western Blot and Dot Blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ID2 id2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Inhibitor of DNA Binding 2, Dominant Negative Helix-loop-helix Protein, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
