Specificity
Recognizes a 60kDa protein, identified as the heat shock protein 60 (hsp60). Its epitope is localized between aa 383-419 of human hsp60. A wide variety of environmental and pathophysiological stressful conditions trigger the synthesis of a family of proteins known as heat shock proteins (hsp-s), more appropriately called as stress response proteins (srp-s). hsp60 is a potential antigen in a number of autoimmune diseases. In human arthritis and in experimentally induced arthritis in animals, disease development coincides with the development of immune reactivity directed against not only bacterial hsp60, but also against its mammalian homolog. Clone LK1, unlike LK2, recognizes only the mammalian (not bacterial) hsp60 and is useful in distinguishing hsp60 from mammals and bacteria.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the chaperonin family. The encoded mitochondrial protein may function as a signaling molecule in the innate immune system. This protein is essential for the folding and assembly of newly imported proteins in the mitochondria. This gene is adjacent to a related family member and the region between the 2 genes functions as a bidirectional promoter. Several pseudogenes have been associated with this gene. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene. Mutations associated with this gene cause autosomal recessive spastic paraplegia 13. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]

Uniprot Description

HSP60: Implicated in mitochondrial protein import and macromolecular assembly. May facilitate the correct folding of imported proteins. May also prevent misfolding and promote the refolding and proper assembly of unfolded polypeptides generated under stress conditions in the mitochondrial matrix. Interacts with HRAS. Interacts with HBV protein X and HTLV-1 protein p40tax. Belongs to the chaperonin (HSP60) family.

The HSPD1 hspd1 (Catalog #AAA438455) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HSP60 (Heat Shock Protein 60) (Mitochondrial Marker) Mouse Monoclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Monkey, Mouse, Rat, Hamster, Guinea Pig, Chicken, E Coli, Borellia, Streptococcus Pyogenes, Yersinia Entercolitica, Salmonella Typhimurium, Treponema Hyodysenteriae, Treponema Innocense, Trichinella Spiralis, Helminths, Yeast, Spinach and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HSP60 (Heat Shock Protein 60) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blot (WB). Flow Cytometry (0.5-1ug/million cells in 0.1ml) Immunofluorescence (0.5-1ug/ml) Western Blot (0.25-0.5ug/ml). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HSPD1 hspd1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HSP60 (Heat Shock Protein 60), Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
