Related Product Information for anti-HIVEP2 antibody
Members of the ZAS family, such as ZAS2 (HIVEP2), are large proteins that contain a ZAS domain, a modular protein structure consisting of a pair of C2H2 zinc fingers with an acidic-rich region and a serine/threonine-rich sequence. These proteins bind specific DNA sequences, including the kappa-B motif (GGGACTTTCC), in the promoters and enhancer regions of several genes and viruses, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). ZAS genes span more than 150 kb and contain at least 10 exons, one of which is longer than 5.5 kb (Allen and Wu, 2004).[supplied by OMIM][NCBI Entrez Gene Summary]

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of a family of closely related, large, zinc finger-containing transcription factors. The encoded protein regulates transcription by binding to regulatory regions of various cellular and viral genes that maybe involved in growth, development and metastasis. The protein contains the ZAS domain comprised of two widely separated regions of zinc finger motifs, a stretch of highly acidic amino acids and a serine/threonine-rich sequence. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2012]

Uniprot Description

HIVEP2: This protein specifically binds to the DNA sequence 5'- GGGACTTTCC-3' which is found in the enhancer elements of numerous viral promoters such as those of SV40, CMV, or HIV1. In addition, related sequences are found in the enhancer elements of a number of cellular promoters, including those of the class I MHC, interleukin-2 receptor, somatostatin receptor II, and interferon- beta genes. It may act in T-cell activation.

Protein type: C2H2-type zinc finger protein; DNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6q23-q24

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm

Molecular Function: DNA binding; metal ion binding

Biological Process: transcription, DNA-dependent; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent

Product Notes

The HIVEP2 hivep2 (Catalog #AAA120441) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse monoclonal antibody Anti-Human HIVEP2 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HIVEP2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Dot Blot (DB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HIVEP2 hivep2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HIVEP2, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
