Biological Significance
There are 2 forms of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. G form is X-linked and H form is autosomally linked. This H form shows activity with other hexose-6-phosphates, especially galactose-6-phosphate, whereas the G form is specific for glucose-6-phosphate. Both forms are present in most tissues, but H form is not found in red cells.
Cross-Reactivity
Human
Immunogen
H6PD antibody was raised in mouse using a full length recombinant protein of human H6PD (NP_004276) produced in HEK293T cells, as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

There are 2 forms of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. G form is X-linked and H form, encoded by this gene, is autosomally linked. This H form shows activity with other hexose-6-phosphates, especially galactose-6-phosphate, whereas the G form is specific for glucose-6-phosphate. Both forms are present in most tissues, but H form is not found in red cells. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

H6PD: Oxidizes glucose-6-phosphate and glucose, as well as other hexose-6-phosphates. Defects in H6PD are a cause of cortisone reductase deficiency (CRD). In CRD, activation of cortisone to cortisol does not occur, resulting in adrenocorticotropin-mediated androgen excess and a phenotype resembling polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Protein type: Hydrolase; Oxidoreductase; EC 1.1.1.47; Carbohydrate Metabolism - pentose phosphate pathway; EC 3.1.1.31

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p36

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum lumen

Molecular Function: glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity; 6-phosphogluconolactonase activity; glucose 1-dehydrogenase activity; NADP binding

Biological Process: pentose-phosphate shunt; glucose metabolic process

Disease: Cortisone Reductase Deficiency 1

Product Notes

The H6PD h6pd (Catalog #AAA830094) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's H6PD can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). FC: 1:100, IF: 1:100, IHC: 1:50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the H6PD h6pd for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "H6PD, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
