NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that controls the production, differentiation, and function of granulocytes and macrophages. The active form of the protein is found extracellularly as a homodimer. This gene has been localized to a cluster of related genes at chromosome region 5q31, which is known to be associated with interstitial deletions in the 5q- syndrome and acute myelogenous leukemia. Other genes in the cluster include those encoding interleukins 4, 5, and 13. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

GMCSF: Cytokine that stimulates the growth and differentiation of hematopoietic precursor cells from various lineages, including granulocytes, macrophages, eosinophils and erythrocytes. Belongs to the GM-CSF family.

Protein type: Secreted; Cytokine; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q31.1

Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region

Molecular Function: protein binding; growth factor activity; granulocyte macrophage colony-stimulating factor receptor binding; cytokine activity

Biological Process: negative regulation of cytolysis; epithelial fluid transport; macrophage activation; embryonic placenta development; positive regulation of tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat5 protein; positive regulation of interleukin-23 production; positive regulation of cell proliferation; myeloid dendritic cell differentiation; immune response; positive regulation of DNA replication

Product Notes

The GM-CSF csf2 (Catalog #AAA592195) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The mAb anti-human GM-CSF reacts with Human. Other species not tested Does not show any cross reaction with other human cytokines or growth factors tested such as M-CSF, G-CSFR, IL-8, IL-16, IL-1beta, TGF-beta1 and TNF-alpha. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GM-CSF can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GM-CSF csf2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GM-CSF, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
