Specificity
GITR (glucocorticoid-induced TNFR-related gene) is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily, also known as TNFRSF18. It is expressed at low levels on resting T lymphocytes and at high levels on CD25+ CD4+ Tregs. The expression of GITR on T cells can be upregulated upon activation. Interaction of GITR with its ligand (GITRL) has been demonstrated to augment T cell activation, proliferation, cytokine production as well as MAP's and NF-kB activation, and abrogate the inhibitory function of CD25+ CD4+ Tregs. In vivo activation of GITR causes development of autoimmune diseases and restores the suppressed immune response.

Uniprot Description

TNFRSF18: Receptor for TNFSF18. Seems to be involved in interactions between activated T-lymphocytes and endothelial cells and in the regulation of T-cell receptor-mediated cell death. Mediated NF-kappa-B activation via the TRAF2/NIK pathway. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Apoptosis; Receptor, cytokine

Cellular Component: external side of plasma membrane; integral to plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; tumor necrosis factor receptor activity

Biological Process: immune response; induction of apoptosis via death domain receptors; inflammatory response; multicellular organismal development; positive regulation of cell adhesion; positive regulation of leukocyte migration; positive regulation of tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat1 protein; regulation of apoptosis; regulation of cell proliferation; response to lipopolysaccharide

Product Notes

The Tnfrsf18 tnfrsf18 (Catalog #AAA438739) is an Antibody produced from Rat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GITR / Tnfrsf18 (mouse) Rat Monoclonal Antibody reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GITR / Tnfrsf18 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF). Flow Cytometry (0.5-1ug/million cells in 0.1ml in 0.1ml) Immunofluorescence (0.5-1ug/ml). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Tnfrsf18 tnfrsf18 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GITR / Tnfrsf18, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
