Related Product Information for anti-CYCS antibody
Cytochrome c is a 12-15 kDa electron transporting protein located in the inner mitochondrial membrane. Upon apoptotic stimulation, cytochrome c can be released from mitochondria into cytoplasm, resulting in caspase-3 activation and apoptosis. Measurement of cytochrome c release from the mitochondria is useful for detection of the onset of apoptosis in cells. In addition, cytochrome c can also leave cells and be detectable in extra-cellular medium of apoptotic cells and serum of cancer patients. The level of serum cytochrome c may serve as a prognostic maker during cancer therapy.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a small heme protein that functions as a central component of the electron transport chain in mitochondria. The encoded protein associates with the inner membrane of the mitochondrion where it accepts electrons from cytochrome b and transfers them to the cytochrome oxidase complex. This protein is also involved in initiation of apoptosis. Mutations in this gene are associated with autosomal dominant nonsyndromic thrombocytopenia. Numerous processed pseudogenes of this gene are found throughout the human genome.[provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]

Uniprot Description

Electron carrier protein. The oxidized form of the cytochrome c heme group can accept an electron from the heme group of the cytochrome c1 subunit of cytochrome reductase. Cytochrome c then transfers this electron to the cytochrome oxidase complex, the final protein carrier in the mitochondrial electron-transport chain.

Product Notes

The CYCS cycs (Catalog #AAA2540185) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CYCS Monoclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CYCS can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:5000-1:50000 IHC: 1:20-1:800 IF: 1:20-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CYCS cycs for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CYCS, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
