Related Product Information for anti-KCNIP3 antibody
KCNIP3 (Potassium Voltage-Gated Channel Interacting Protein 3, also known as CSEN) is a Protein Coding gene. CSEN is a member of the family of voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channel-interacting proteins, which belong to the recoverin branch of the EF-hand superfamily. Members of this family are integral subunit components of native Kv4 channel complexes that may regulate A-type currents, and hence neuronal excitability, in response to changes in intracellular calcium. CSEN also functions as a calcium-regulated transcriptional repressor and interacts with presenilins. CSEN binds to the DRE element of genes including PDYN and FOS. CSEN is broadly expressed in the brain, thyroid, and other tissues. Diseases associated with KCNIP3 include Alzheimer's Disease and Niemann-Pick Disease, Type C2.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the family of voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channel-interacting proteins, which belong to the recoverin branch of the EF-hand superfamily. Members of this family are small calcium binding proteins containing EF-hand-like domains. They are integral subunit components of native Kv4 channel complexes that may regulate A-type currents, and hence neuronal excitability, in response to changes in intracellular calcium. The encoded protein also functions as a calcium-regulated transcriptional repressor, and interacts with presenilins. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

calsenilin: a small calcium-binding protein. Member of the family of voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channel-interacting proteins (KCNIPs), which belong to the recoverin branch of the EF-hand superfamily. Modulates K4 voltage-gated potassium channels. May regulate A-type currents, and hence neuronal excitability, in response to changes in intracellular calcium. Also functions as a calcium-regulated transcriptional repressor, and to interact with presenilins. May play a role in the regulation of PSEN2 proteolytic processing.

Product Notes

The KCNIP3 kcnip3 (Catalog #AAA8107471) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Recombinant Anti-CSEN Antibody, Rabbit Monoclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CSEN can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). IHC-P: 1:250-1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KCNIP3 kcnip3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CSEN, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
