Related Product Information for anti-Connexin 36 antibody
Intercellular communication through gap junctions plays an important role in a variety of cellular processes including homeostasis, morphogenesis, cell differentiation, and growth control (1-4). Gap junctions are transmembrane channels that directly link neighboring cells by mediating the exchange of low-molecular weight (< 1200kD) metabolites, ions, and second messengers. Gap junctions are formed by the interaction of hemichannels (connexons) on adjacent cells. Connexons are hexameric assemblies of connexin proteins.

NCBI and Uniprot Product Information

NCBI GI #
NCBI Official Full Name
connexin 36

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the connexin protein family. Connexins are gap junction proteins which are arranged in groups of 6 around a central pore to form a connexon, a component of the gap junction intercellular channel. The channels formed by this protein allow cationic molecule exchange between human beta cells and may function in the regulation of insulin secretion. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2012]

Uniprot Description

GJD2: One gap junction consists of a cluster of closely packed pairs of transmembrane channels, the connexons, through which materials of low MW diffuse from one cell to a neighboring cell. Belongs to the connexin family. Delta-type subfamily.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Cell adhesion; Membrane protein, integral; Channel, misc.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 15q14

Cellular Component: connexon complex; integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: gap junction channel activity

Biological Process: regulation of action potential; synaptic transmission; visual perception; transmembrane transport

Product Notes

The Connexin 36 (Catalog #AAA603756) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Connexin 36 (CX36) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Connexin 36 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml Immunoprecipitation (Native): 5-10ug/IP reaction Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): 1-3ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Connexin 36 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Connexin 36, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
