Specificity
Recognizes a neuraminidase-sensitive sialoprotein (CDw75), present on cell membrane and cytoplasm of germinal center B-cells and derived lymphomas. This MAb reacts with RBC precursors of bone marrow, ductal and ciliated epithelial cells of kidney, breast, prostate, pancreas, lung, and with glioblastomas, astrocytomas, and Reed Sternberg cells in lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin's disease. It is shown to be a helpful antibody for ascribing a B-cell phenotype in known lymphoid tissues.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of glycosyltransferase family 29. The encoded protein is a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates. The protein, which is normally found in the Golgi but can be proteolytically processed to a soluble form, is involved in the generation of the cell-surface carbohydrate determinants and differentiation antigens HB-6, CD75, and CD76. This gene has been incorrectly referred to as CD75. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2017]

Uniprot Description

SIAT1: a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates. Is normally found in the trans cisternae of the Golgi but which can be proteolytically processed to a soluble form, is involved in the generation of the cell-surface carbohydrate determinants and differentiation antigens HB-6, CDw75, and CD76. This protein is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found.

Protein type: EC 2.4.99.1; Membrane protein, integral; Glycan Metabolism - N-glycan biosynthesis; Transferase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q27.3

Cellular Component: Golgi membrane; integral to Golgi membrane

Molecular Function: sialyltransferase activity; beta-galactoside alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase activity

Biological Process: protein amino acid O-linked glycosylation; cellular protein metabolic process; O-glycan processing; dolichol-linked oligosaccharide biosynthetic process; protein amino acid N-linked glycosylation via asparagine; post-translational protein modification; N-acetylneuraminate metabolic process; humoral immune response

Product Notes

The CDw75 st6gal1 (Catalog #AAA4381249) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CDw75 (B-Cell Marker) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CDw75 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. FC/FACS: 0.5-1ug/million cells IF: 0.5-1ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (Formalin-fixed) (0.5-1.0ug/ml for 30 minutes at RT) (Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM Citrate Buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDw75 st6gal1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CDw75, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
