Application Notes
Western Blot: This monoclonal antibody has been tested in WB analysis of human CD2. A suitable range of concentrations of this antibody for WB detection is 0.5-2 ug/ml.
Host Note
This antibody was produced from a hybridoma resulting from the fusion of a mouse myeloma with B cells obtained from a mouse immunized with recombinant E. coli-derived Human CD2.
Endotoxin
Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method.
Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized antibody is stable for at least 1 year from date of receipt at -20 degree C.
Upon reconstitution, this antibody can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Related Product Information for anti-CD2 antibody
Cell surface molecule CD2 is a 45- to 58-kDa type I integral protein expressed on virtually all T lineage and NK cells. The extracellular domain of CD2 is composed by two Ig superfamily domains, of which the membrane-distal V- like domain is involved in the binding to the ligand. CD2 has different ligands in rodents (CD48) and humans (CD58), and the mechanisms of ligand binding are substantially different, as assessed by thermodynamic analysis. Nevertheless, engagement of CD2 to CD58 in humans, or to CD48 in rodents, facilitates adhesion between T cells and APC and is proposed to promote the formation of an optimal intercellular membrane spacing suitable for TCR recognition of a peptide Ag bound to MHC.

NCBI Description

CD2 is a surface antigen of the human T-lymphocyte lineage that is expressed on all peripheral blood T cells (summarized by Sewell et al., 1986 [PubMed 3490670]). It is one of the earliest T-cell markers, being present on more than 95% of thymocytes; it is also found on some natural killer cells but not on B lymphocytes. Monoclonal antibodies directed against CD2 inhibit the formation of rosettes with sheep erythrocytes, indicating that CD2 is the erythrocyte receptor or is closely associated with it.[supplied by OMIM, Jul 2010]

Uniprot Description

CD2: CD2 interacts with lymphocyte function-associated antigen (LFA-3) and CD48/BCM1 to mediate adhesion between T-cells and other cell types. CD2 is implicated in the triggering of T- cells, the cytoplasmic domain is implicated in the signaling function.

Product Notes

The CD2 cd2 (Catalog #AAA550090) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Monoclonal Mouse anti Human CD2 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. Western Blot: This monoclonal antibody has been tested in WB analysis of human CD2. A suitable range of concentrations of this antibody for WB detection is 0.5-2 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD2 cd2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD2, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
