• Immunogen: CD15 antigen.
• Preparation and Storage: May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

This is a hematopoietic differentiation antigen (also named SSEA-1, stage-speci c embryonic antigen) expressed on most terminally differentiated myeloid cells including granulocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, mast cells, macrophages and Langerhans cells.On progenitor cells CD15 is coexpressed by 0.25 to 1% of bone marrow CD34+ cells.(2) In the peripheral blood growth factor mobilized CD34+ cells expressed CD15

CD15 plays a role in mediating phagocytosis, bactericidal activity, and chemotaxis. It is present on >95% of granulocytes including neutrophils and eosinophils and to a lesser degree on monocytes. In addition, CD15 is expressed in Reed-Sternberg cells and some epithelial cells. CD15 antibody is very useful in the identification of Hodgkin's disease. CD15 is occasionally expressed in large cell lymphomas of both B and T phenotypes which otherwise have a quite distinct histological appearance.
This antibody has been assigned to the CD15 cluster of differentiation at the Vth International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens in Boston (1993).
