Related Product Information for anti-ACTA2 antibody
Actin is a highly conserved skeletal protein which is in both muscle and nonmuscle cells. The mammalian tissues express at least 6 unique actin isotypes. Alpha isotype is found exclusively in muscle cells including alpha-skeletal, alpha-cardiac, and alpha and gamma smooth muscle actin. Beta and gamma nonmuscular actins have been observed in non-muscle cells.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the actin family of proteins, which are highly conserved proteins that play a role in cell motility, structure and integrity. Alpha, beta and gamma actin isoforms have been identified, with alpha actins being a major constituent of the contractile apparatus, while beta and gamma actins are involved in the regulation of cell motility. This actin is an alpha actin that is found in skeletal muscle. Defects in this gene cause aortic aneurysm familial thoracic type 6. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2008]

Uniprot Description

ACTA2: Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in various types of cell motility and are ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells. Polymerization of globular actin (G-actin) leads to a structural filament (F-actin) in the form of a two-stranded helix. Each actin can bind to 4 others. Up-regulated in response to enterovirus 71 (EV71) infection. Belongs to the actin family.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Contractile; Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q23.3

Cellular Component: extracellular space; smooth muscle contractile fiber; protein complex; cytoplasm; cytosol; actin cytoskeleton

Molecular Function: protein kinase binding; ATP binding

Biological Process: muscle contraction; regulation of blood pressure; response to virus; vascular smooth muscle contraction

Disease: Multisystemic Smooth Muscle Dysfunction Syndrome; Moyamoya Disease 5; Aortic Aneurysm, Familial Thoracic 6

Product Notes

The ACTA2 acta2 (Catalog #AAA633240) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Actin, alpha, Smooth Muscle reacts with Bovine, Chicken, Human, Mouse, Rabbit, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Actin, alpha, Smooth Muscle can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/paraffin): 1:800 for 20 minutes at RT. No special pretreatment is required for the immunohistochemical staining of formalin/paraffin tissues. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ACTA2 acta2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Actin, alpha, Smooth Muscle, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
