Monkey PDCN (Podocin) ELISA Kit
Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to PDCN. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for PDCN and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain PDCN, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of PDCN. You can calculate the concentration of PDCN in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

NPHS2: Plays a role in the regulation of glomerular permeability, acting probably as a linker between the plasma membrane and the cytoskeleton. Defects in NPHS2 are the cause of nephrotic syndrome type 2 (NPHS2). It is a renal disorder characterized clinically by childhood onset of proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia, hyperlipidemia, and edema. Kidney biopsies show non-specific histologic changes such as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and diffuse mesangial proliferation. The disorder is resistant to steroid treatment and progresses to end-stage renal failure in the first or second decades. Some patients show later onset of the disorder. Belongs to the band 7/mec-2 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
