Related Product Information for P-GP elisa kit
Intended Uses: This ELISA kit applies to the in vitro quantitative determination of Monkey P-GP concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to P-GP. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for P-GP and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain P-GP, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of P-GP. You can calculate the concentration of P-GP in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

ABCB5 belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily of integral membrane proteins. These proteins participate in ATP-dependent transmembrane transport of structurally diverse molecules ranging from small ions, sugars, and peptides to more complex organic molecules (Chen et al., 2005 [PubMed 15760339]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

ABCB5: Plasma membrane transporter able to mediate efflux from cells of the rhodamine dye and of the therapeutic drug doxorubicin. Responsible for the resistance to doxorubicin of a subset of malignant melanomas. Belongs to the ABC transporter superfamily. ABCB family. Multidrug resistance exporter (TC 3.A.1.201) subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Transporter; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Transporter, ABC family; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7p21.1

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: efflux transmembrane transporter activity; ATPase activity, coupled to transmembrane movement of substances; ATP binding

Biological Process: regulation of membrane potential; metabolic process; compound eye corneal lens development; positive regulation of antigen processing and presentation of peptide antigen via MHC class I; cell differentiation; antigen processing and presentation of endogenous peptide antigen via MHC class Ib via ER pathway, TAP-dependent; transmembrane transport; antigen processing and presentation of exogenous protein antigen via MHC class Ib, TAP-dependent; antigen processing and presentation of endogenous peptide antigen via MHC class I via ER pathway, TAP-dependent

Product Notes

The Monkey P-GP abcb5 (Catalog #AAA2513014) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2513014 ELISA Kit recognizes Monkey P-GP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "P-GP, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
