Related Product Information for JNK1 recombinant protein
Description: Recombinant full-length mouse JNK1 was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using a N-terminal GST tag.
Scientific Background: JNK1 is a member of the MAP kinase group that is activated by dual phosphorylation at thr and tyr residues during exposure to stress such as UV irradiation. JNK1 binds to the c-Jun transactivation domain and phosphorylates it on Ser-63 and Ser-73 (1). JNK1 has been shown to play an important role in disease processes. Activation of JNK1 results in defects in myotube viability and integrity leading to dystrophic myofiber destruction (2). JNK1 activity is also abnormally elevated in obesity and removal of JNK1 results in decreased adiposity and significantly improved insulin sensitivity.

Uniprot Description

JNK1: a protein kinase of the MAPK family that is potently activated by a variety of environmental stresses, including UV and gamma radiation, ceramides, pro-inflammatory cytokines and, in some instances, by growth factors and GPCR agonists. Substrates include a number of transcription factors, primarily components of AP-1 such as c-Jun and ATF2, thus regulating AP-1 transcriptional activity. In T- cells, JNK1 and JNK2 are required for polarized differentiation of T-helper cells into Th1 cells. Binds to at least four scaffolding proteins, JIP-1, -2, -3 and -4. Activity increased in obesity. Inhibition or mouse knockout increases insulin sensitivity. Part of NFB pathway involved in inflammation and cancer, and signals downstream of Ras, though possibly as an apoptotic negative regulator of growth. Four alternatively-spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The JNK1 mapk8 (Catalog #AAA515544) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells using baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is Full Length. AAA Biotech's JNK1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Kinase Assay, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the JNK1 mapk8 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "JNK1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
