Related Product Information for LGALS7 elisa kit
Principle of the assay: human Galectin-7 ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. A monoclonal antibody from mouse specific for Galectin-7 has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards(E.coli, S2-F136) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific for Galectin-7 is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the human Galectin-7 amount of sample captured in plate.
Background: Galectin-7, also known as GAL7, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LGALS7 gene. This gene is mapped to 19q13.2. Galectins belong to a family of related beta-galactoside-binding lectins, also referred to as S-type or S-Lac lectins. Members of this family have been implicated in a variety of functions, including growth regulation, cell adhesion, migration, neoplastic transformation, and immune responses. Differential and in situ hybridizations indicate that this lectin is specifically expressed in keratinocytes. It has been found that expression of Galectin-7 was markedly upregulated in corneal epithelium after injury and that exogenous galectin-7 stimulated reepithelialization of corneal wounds.

NCBI Description

The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Differential and in situ hybridization studies indicate that this lectin is specifically expressed in keratinocytes and found mainly in stratified squamous epithelium. A duplicate copy of this gene (GeneID:653499) is found adjacent to, but on the opposite strand on chromosome 19. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

LGALS7B: Could be involved in cell-cell and/or cell-matrix interactions necessary for normal growth control. Pro-apoptotic protein that functions intracellularly upstream of JNK activation and cytochrome c release.

Protein type: Cell adhesion; Apoptosis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.2

Cellular Component: extracellular space; cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: carbohydrate binding

Biological Process: heterophilic cell adhesion; apoptosis

Product Notes

The Human LGALS7 lgals7 (Catalog #AAA177204) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA177204 ELISA Kit recognizes Human LGALS7. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Galectin-7, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
