Related Product Information for LDL elisa kit
Principle of the assay: LDL ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-LDL antibody and an LDL-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with LDL-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the LDL concentration since LDL from samples and LDL-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-LDL antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by LDL from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind LDL-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The LDL concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

The low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) gene family consists of cell surface proteins involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis of specific ligands. Low density lipoprotein (LDL) is normally bound at the cell membrane and taken into the cell ending up in lysosomes where the protein is degraded and the cholesterol is made available for repression of microsomal enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG CoA) reductase, the rate-limiting step in cholesterol synthesis. At the same time, a reciprocal stimulation of cholesterol ester synthesis takes place. Mutations in this gene cause the autosomal dominant disorder, familial hypercholesterolemia. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010]

Product Notes

The Sheep LDL ldlr (Catalog #AAA737111) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA737111 ELISA Kit recognizes Sheep LDL. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Low Density Lipoprotein, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
