Intended Uses: For the quantitative detection of Human Interleukin-5 receptor subunit alpha (IL5RA/IL5R) concentration in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate IL5RA in Human serum, plasma. An antibody specific for IL5RA has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any IL5RA present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for IL5RA is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL5RA bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is an interleukin 5 specific subunit of a heterodimeric cytokine receptor. The receptor is comprised of a ligand specific alpha subunit and a signal transducing beta subunit shared by the receptors for interleukin 3 (IL3), colony stimulating factor 2 (CSF2/GM-CSF), and interleukin 5 (IL5). The binding of this protein to IL5 depends on the beta subunit. The beta subunit is activated by the ligand binding, and is required for the biological activities of IL5. This protein has been found to interact with syndecan binding protein (syntenin), which is required for IL5 mediated activation of the transcription factor SOX4. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding four distinct isoforms have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2011]

Uniprot Description

IL5RA: This is the receptor for interleukin-5. The alpha chain binds to IL5. Belongs to the type I cytokine receptor family. Type 5 subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Human IL5RA/IL5R il5ra (Catalog #AAA285757) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA285757 ELISA Kit recognizes Human IL5RA/IL5R. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Interleukin-5, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
