Interleukin-1alpha is a pleiotropic pro-inflammatory cytokine and member of the IL-1 superfamily. It is secreted by activated macrophages and monocytes and is involved in the modulation of a wide range of immune and inflammatory responses.
IL-1alpha and the closely related IL-1beta, are both involved in haematopoiesis and exhibit many identical immunomodulatory properties, binding to the same type I interleukin-1 receptor, also known as CD121a.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells.

Product Notes
The IL1A il1a (Catalog #AAA225397) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Pichia pastoris and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Recombinant Bovine Interleukin-1 Alpha reacts with Bovine and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Interleukin-1 Alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Functional Assay (FN). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL1A il1a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Interleukin-1 Alpha, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
