Principle of the Assay||This kit was based on sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. Anti-Porcine IL-17 antibody was pre-coated onto 96-well plates. And the biotin conjugated anti-Porcine IL-17 antibody was used as detection antibodies. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody were added to the wells subsequently, and wash with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with wash buffer. TMB substrates were used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the Porcine IL-17 amount of sample captured in plate. Read the O.D. absorbance at 450nm in a microplate reader, and then the concentration of Porcine IL-17 can be calculated.

The protein encoded by this gene is a proinflammatory cytokine produced by activated T cells. This cytokine regulates the activities of NF-kappaB and mitogen-activated protein kinases. This cytokine can stimulate the expression of IL6 and cyclooxygenase-2 (PTGS2/COX-2), as well as enhance the production of nitric oxide (NO). High levels of this cytokine are associated with several chronic inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and multiple sclerosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
