Principle of the assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for ICOSLG has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any ICOSLG present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ICOSLG is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ICOSLG bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Acts as a costimulatory signal for T-cell proliferation and cytokine secretion; induces also B-cell proliferation and differentiation into plasma cells. Could play an important role in mediating local tissue responses to inflammatory conditions, as well as in modulating the secondary immune response by co- stimulating memory T-cell function. Belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. BTN/MOG family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
