Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human Urocortin-2 (also known as UCN2) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat CGRP antibody. CGRP present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat CGRP Antibody is added and binds to CGRP in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CGRP antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat CGRP. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description
This gene is a member of the sauvagine/corticotropin-releasing factor/urotensin I family. It is structurally related to the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) gene and the encoded product is an endogenous ligand for CRF type 2 receptors. In the brain it may be responsible for the effects of stress on appetite. In spite of the gene family name similarity, the product of this gene has no sequence similarity to urotensin II.
