Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human Selenium Binding Protein 1 (also known as SELENBP1) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human SELENBP1 antibody. SELENBP1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human SELENBP1 Antibody is added and binds to SELENBP1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SELENBP1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human SELENBP1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the selenium-binding protein family. Selenium is an essential nutrient that exhibits potent anticarcinogenic properties, and deficiency of selenium may cause certain neurologic diseases. The effects of selenium in preventing cancer and neurologic diseases may be mediated by selenium-binding proteins, and decreased expression of this gene may be associated with several types of cancer. The encoded protein may play a selenium-dependent role in ubiquitination/deubiquitination-mediated protein degradation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2012]

Uniprot Description

Catalyzes the oxidation of methanethiol, an organosulfur compound known to be produced in substantial amounts by gut bacteria (PubMed:29255262). Selenium-binding protein which may be involved in the sensing of reactive xenobiotics in the cytoplasm. May be involved in intra-Golgi protein transport ().

Product Notes

The Human SELENBP1 selenbp1 (Catalog #AAA1602829) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA1602829 ELISA Kit recognizes Human SELENBP1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Selenium-binding protein 1, SELENBP1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
