Principle of the Assay: This kit was based on sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. Anti-TrkB polyclonal antibody was pre-coated onto 96-well plates. And the biotin conjugated anti-TrkB polyclonal antibody was used as detection antibodies. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody were added to the wells subsequently, and wash with wash buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with wash buffer. TMB substrates were used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the TrkB amount of sample captured in plate. Read the O.D. absorbance at 450nm in a microplate reader, and then the concentration of TrkB can be calculated!!Background/Introduction: TrkB receptor also known as TrkB tyrosine kinase or BDNF/NT-3 growth factors receptor or neurotrophic tyrosine kinase, receptor, type 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NTRK2 gene. The TrkB receptor is part of the large family of receptor tyrosine kinases, it is located at the cellular membrane, and is activated by binding of a ligand to the receptor's extracellular domain. TrkB is the high affinity catalytic receptor for several "neurotrophins", which are small protein growth factors that induce the survival and differentiation of distinct cell populations.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This protein belongs to the lipocalin family and is the specific carrier for retinol (vitamin A alcohol) in the blood. It delivers retinol from the liver stores to the peripheral tissues. In plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin which prevents its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli. A deficiency of vitamin A blocks secretion of the binding protein posttranslationally and results in defective delivery and supply to the epidermal cells. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
RBP4: Delivers retinol from the liver stores to the peripheral tissues. In plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin, this prevents its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli. Defects in RBP4 are a cause of retinol-binding protein deficiency (RBP deficiency). This condition causes night vision problems. It produces a typical 'fundus xerophthalmicus', featuring a progressed atrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Lipocalin family.

Product Notes
The Human RBP4 rbp4 (Catalog #AAA494817) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA494817 ELISA Kit recognizes Human RBP4. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RBP4, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
