YIPF7 is a multi-pass membrane protein. It belongs to the YIP1 family. The exact function of YIPF2 remains unknown. There are two named isoforms.
The YIP1 family of proteins is an intriguing collection of small membrane proteins with critical roles in membrane traffic. Although their mode of action is unknown, they are receiving attention as participants in vesicle biogenesis, and as factors that may mediate the association of Rab proteins with membranes.
Yeast YIP1 is an essential gene and can be fully complemented by its human counterpart-suggesting that the essential function of Yip1p is evolutionarily conserved.
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate YIPF7 in samples. An antibody specific for YIPF7 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyYIPF7 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for YIPF7 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of YIPF7 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
