Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Human Protein-arginine Deiminase Type-3 (also known as PADI3) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Human PADI3 antibody. PADI3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human PADI3 Antibody is added and binds to PADI3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PADI3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human PADI3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

This gene encodes a member of the peptidyl arginine deiminase family of enzymes, which catalyze the post-translational deimination of proteins by converting arginine residues into citrullines in the presence of calcium ions. The family members have distinct substrate specificities and tissue-specific expression patterns. The type III enzyme modulates hair structural proteins, such as filaggrin in the hair follicle and trichohyalin in the inner root sheath, during hair follicle formation. Together with the type I enzyme, this enzyme may also play a role in terminal differentiation of the epidermis. This gene exists in a cluster with four other paralogous genes.
