Principle of the Assay: The MyBioSource' Human LYVE-1 ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human LYVE-1 in Cell Culture Supernatants, Cell Lysates, Tissue Homogenates. This assay employs an antibody specific for Human LYVE-1 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and LYVE-1 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human LYVE-1 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LYVE-1 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm!!Background/Introduction: Extracellular link domain containing 1, also known as LYVE-1 or XLKD1 is a human gene. The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the LYVE1 gene to chromosome 11p15.4. This gene encodes a type I integral membrane glycoprotein. The encoded protein acts as a receptor and binds to both soluble and immobilized hyaluronan. This protein may function in lymphatic hyaluronan transport and have a role in tumor metastasis. This gene may play a role in autocrine regulation of cell growth mediated by growth regulators containing cell surface retention sequence binding (CRS). It may act as a hyaluronan (HA) transporter, either mediating its uptake for catabolism within lymphatic endothelial cells themselves, or its transport into the lumen of afferent lymphatic vessels for subsequent re-uptake and degradation in lymph nodes.

NCBI Description

Cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily. This gene encodes a neuronal cell adhesion molecule with multiple immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains and fibronectin type-III domains. This ankyrin-binding protein is involved in neuron-neuron adhesion and promotes directional signaling during axonal cone growth. This gene is also expressed in non-neural tissues and may play a general role in cell-cell communication via signaling from its intracellular domain to the actin cytoskeleton during directional cell migration. Allelic variants of this gene have been associated with autism and addiction vulnerability. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

NRCAM: Cell adhesion, ankyrin-binding protein involved in neuron-neuron adhesion. May play a role in the molecular assembly of the nodes of Ranvier. Belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. L1/neurofascin/NgCAM family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Human NRCAM nrcam (Catalog #AAA8248382) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA8248382 ELISA Kit recognizes Human NRCAM. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NRCAM, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
