Human IFN-Gamma (Interferon Gamma) Pre-Coated ELISA Kit
This kit was based on sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. Anti-human IFN-Gamma antibody was pre-coated into 96-well plates. Biotin conjugated anti-human IFN-gamma detection antibody was used. Standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody were added to the wells subsequently. Wash buffer was used to wash any non-specific binding. HRP conjugated Streptavidin was used as secondary antibody. TMB substrates were used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the Human IFN-gamma amount of samples captured in the plate. Optical Density (O.D) can be read at absorbance 450 nm in a microplate reader. Concentration of Human IFN-gamma can be calculated using the standard curve.

This gene encodes a soluble cytokine that is a member of the type II interferon class. The encoded protein is secreted by cells of both the innate and adaptive immune systems. The active protein is a homodimer that binds to the interferon gamma receptor which triggers a cellular response to viral and microbial infections. Mutations in this gene are associated with an increased susceptibility to viral, bacterial and parasitic infections and to several autoimmune diseases. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]

Produced by lymphocytes activated by specific antigens or mitogens. IFN-gamma, in addition to having antiviral activity, has important immunoregulatory functions. It is a potent activator of macrophages, it has antiproliferative effects on transformed cells and it can potentiate the antiviral and antitumor effects of the type I interferons.
