Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Human GLDN antibody. GLDN present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human GLDN Antibody is added and binds to GLDN in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated GLDN antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human GLDN. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a protein that contains olfactomedin-like and collagen-like domains. The encoded protein, which exists in both transmembrane and secreted forms, promotes formation of the nodes of Ranvier in the peripheral nervous system. Mutations in this gene cause a form of lethal congenital contracture syndrome in human patients. Autoantibodies to the encoded protein have been identified in sera form patients with multifocal motor neuropathy. [provided by RefSeq, May 2017]
Uniprot Description
Ligand for NRCAM and NFASC/neurofascin that plays a role in the formation and maintenance of the nodes of Ranvier on myelinated axons. Mediates interaction between Schwann cell microvilli and axons via its interactions with NRCAM and NFASC. Nodes of Ranvier contain clustered sodium channels that are crucial for the saltatory propagation of action potentials along myelinated axons. During development, nodes of Ranvier are formed by the fusion of two heminodes. Required for normal clustering of sodium channels at heminodes; not required for the formation of mature nodes with normal sodium channel clusters. Required, together with NRCAM, for maintaining NFASC and sodium channel clusters at mature nodes of Ranvier.

Product Notes
The Human GLDN gldn (Catalog #AAA163973) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA163973 ELISA Kit recognizes Human GLDN. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Gliomedin (GLDN), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
