NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
plays a role in phosphoinositide mediated disassembly of actin filaments in Sertoli cell adhesion complexes; may regulate sperm release and turnover of the blood-testis barrier [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
Gelsolin: a calcium-regulated, actin-modulating protein that binds to the plus (or barbed) ends of actin monomers or filaments, preventing monomer exchange (end-blocking or capping). It can promote the assembly of monomers into filaments (nucleation) as well as sever filaments already formed. Its expression is significantly decreased in many tumors and transformed cell lines. Gelsolin and other proteins including E-cadherin, BRCA, p21WAF, HoxA5, and retinoic acid receptor II are regulated by epigenetic changes in breast cancers. Gelsolin helps mediate the ability of HDAC inhibitors to protect neurons from oxygen/glucose deprivation. Two human isoforms are produced by alternative initiation.

Product Notes
The Human GS gsn (Catalog #AAA264815) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA264815 ELISA Kit recognizes Human GS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Gelsolin (GS), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
