Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Related Product Information for LGALS7 elisa kit
Description: This Human Galectin-7 (LGALS7) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate LGALS7 in samples. An antibody specific for LGALS7 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any LGALS7 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for LGALS7 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LGALS7 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: Galectin-7, a member of this family, contributes to different events associated with the differentiation and development of pluristratified epithelia. It is also associated with epithelial cell migration, which plays a crucial role in the re-epithelialization process of corneal or epidermal wounds. In addition, recent evidence indicates that galectin-7, designated as the product of the p53-induced gene 1 (PIG1), is a regulator of apoptosis through JNK activation and mitochondrial cytochrome c release. Defects in apoptosis constitute one of the major hallmarks of human cancers, and galectin-7 can act as either a positive or a negative regulatory factor in tumour development, depending on the histological type of the tumour.

NCBI Description

The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Differential and in situ hybridization studies indicate that this lectin is specifically expressed in keratinocytes and found mainly in stratified squamous epithelium. A duplicate copy of this gene (GeneID:653499) is found adjacent to, but on the opposite strand on chromosome 19. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

LGALS7B: Could be involved in cell-cell and/or cell-matrix interactions necessary for normal growth control. Pro-apoptotic protein that functions intracellularly upstream of JNK activation and cytochrome c release.

Protein type: Cell adhesion; Apoptosis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.2

Cellular Component: extracellular space; cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: carbohydrate binding

Biological Process: heterophilic cell adhesion; apoptosis

Product Notes

The Human LGALS7 lgals7 (Catalog #AAA9715485) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9715485 ELISA Kit recognizes Human LGALS7. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Galectin-7 (LGALS7), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
