* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Background: Chordin is a polypeptide that dorsalizes the developing embryo by binding ventralizing TGFbeta proteins such as bone morphogenetic proteins. It may also play a role in organogenesis. There are five named isoforms of this protein that are produced by alternative splicing. In humans, the chordin peptide is encoded by the CHRD gene. 948-amino acid protein containing 4 internal cysteine-rich repeats and 4 potential N-glycosylation sites. Northern blot analysis detected high levels of a 3.7-kb Chrd transcript in 7-day postcoitum mouse embryos; its level decreased at later developmental stages and in adult tissues. Dot blot analysis of mRNA expression in human adult and fetal tissues showed that CHRD is expressed at the highest level in liver.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a secreted protein that dorsalizes early vertebrate embryonic tissues by binding to ventralizing TGF-beta-like bone morphogenetic proteins and sequestering them in latent complexes. The encoded protein may also have roles in organogenesis and during adulthood. It has been suggested that this gene could be a candidate gene for Cornelia de Lange syndrome. Reduced expression of this gene results in enhanced bone regeneration. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Other alternative splice variants have been described but their full length sequence has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2015]
Uniprot Description
Dorsalizing factor. Key developmental protein that dorsalizes early vertebrate embryonic tissues by binding to ventralizing TGF-beta family bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) and sequestering them in latent complexes ().

Product Notes
The Human CHRD chrd (Catalog #AAA9715944) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9715944 ELISA Kit recognizes Human CHRD. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Chordin (CHRD), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
