Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human AFGF-1 antibody. AFGF-1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human AFGF-1 Antibody is added and binds to AFGF-1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated AFGF-1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human AFGF-1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

This gene encodes activated leukocyte cell adhesion molecule (ALCAM), also known as CD166 (cluster of differentiation 166), which is a member of a subfamily of immunoglobulin receptors with five immunoglobulin-like domains (VVC2C2C2) in the extracellular domain. This protein binds to T-cell differentiation antigene CD6, and is implicated in the processes of cell adhesion and migration. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
