Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of RPS18. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between RPS18 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between RPS18 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.

Intended Uses: This RPS18 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Human RPS18. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or test applications!

Principle of the Assay: RPS18 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing an anti-RPS18 antibody and an RPS18-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with RPS18-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the RPS18 concentration since RPS18 from samples and RPS18-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-RPS18 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by RPS18 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind RPS18-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The RPS18 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

Ribosomes, the organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. Together these subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 structurally distinct proteins. This gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 40S subunit. The protein belongs to the S13P family of ribosomal proteins. It is located in the cytoplasm. The gene product of the E. coli ortholog (ribosomal protein S13) is involved in the binding of fMet-tRNA, and thus, in the initiation of translation. This gene is an ortholog of mouse Ke3. As is typical for genes encoding ribosomal proteins, there are multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene dispersed through the genome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The Human RPS18 rps18 (Catalog #AAA7221630) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7221630 ELISA Kit recognizes Human RPS18. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "40S ribosomal protein S18 (RPS18), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
