Related Product Information for PRSS8 clia kit
Intended Uses: This CLIA kit applies to the in vitro quantitative determination of PRSS8 concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This kit uses Sandwich-CLIA as the method. The micro CLIA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to PRSS8. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro CLIA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for PRSS8 and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain PRSS8, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear fluorescence. The Relative light unit (RLU) value is measured spectrophotometrically by the Chemiluminescence immunoassay analyzer. The RLU value is positively associated with the concentration of PRSS8. You can calculate the concentration of PRSS8 in the samples by comparing the RLU value of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a trypsinogen, which is a member of the trypsin family of serine proteases. This enzyme is highly expressed in prostate epithelia and is one of several proteolytic enzymes found in seminal fluid. The proprotein is cleaved to produce a light chain and a heavy chain which are associated by a disulfide bond. It is active on peptide linkages involving the carboxyl group of lysine or arginine. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

PRSS8: Possesses a trypsin-like cleavage specificity with a preference for poly-basic substrates. Stimulates epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) activity through activating cleavage of the gamma subunits (SCNN1G). Belongs to the peptidase S1 family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Protease; EC 3.4.21.-

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16p11.2

Cellular Component: extracellular space; integral to membrane; extracellular region; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; serine-type peptidase activity; serine-type endopeptidase activity

Biological Process: proteolysis

Product Notes

The Human PRSS8 prss8 (Catalog #AAA2531422) is a CLIA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2531422 CLIA Kit recognizes Human PRSS8. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PRSS8 (Protease, Serine 8), CLIA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
