Target Description: This gene encodes a member of the C-type lectin/C-type lectin-like domain (CTL/CTLD) superfamily. Members of this family share a common protein fold and have diverse functions, such as cell adhesion, cell-cell signalling, glycoprotein turnover, and roles in inflammation and immune response. The encoded type 2 transmembrane protein may play a role in inflammatory and immune response. Multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. This gene is closely linked to other CTL/CTLD superfamily members on chromosome 12p13 in the natural killer gene complex region.

Uniprot Description

CLEC4A: May be involved in regulating immune reactivity. May play a role in modulating dendritic cells (DC) differentiation and/or maturation. May be involved via its ITIM motif (immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs) in the inhibition of B-cell-receptor-mediated calcium mobilization and protein tyrosine phosphorylation. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12p13

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane

Molecular Function: transmembrane receptor activity; carbohydrate binding

Biological Process: cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; innate immune response; cell adhesion

Product Notes

The CLEC4A clec4a (Catalog #AAA3246627) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CLEC4A Peptide - middle region reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: LQEESAYFVG LSDPEGQRHW QWVDQTPYNE SSTFWHPREP SDPNERCVVL. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CLEC4A, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
