Related Product Information for BMP2 active protein
Background: BMP2 belongs to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFbeta) superfamily. As implied by their name, BMPs promote and regulate bone development, growth, remodeling and repair, in both prenatal development and postnatal growth of eye, heart, kidney, skin, and other tissues. In addition to its osteogenic activity, BMP-2 also plays an important role in cardiac morphogenesis. BMP-2 is expressed in a variety of tissues such as lung, spleen, brain, liver, prostate ovary, and small intestine. BMP2 is a candidate gene for the autosomal dominant disease of fibrodysplasia (myositis) ossificans progressiva. MyBioSource's BMP-2 is produced in a serum-free, chemically defined media. Production in human 293 cells offers authentic glycosylation, contributing to stability in cell growth media and other applications.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFB) superfamily. The encoded protein acts as a disulfide-linked homodimer and induces bone and cartilage formation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Induces cartilage and bone formation (PubMed:3201241). Stimulates the differentiation of myoblasts into osteoblasts via the EIF2AK3-EIF2A- ATF4 pathway. BMP2 activation of EIF2AK3 stimulates phosphorylation of EIF2A which leads to increased expression of ATF4 which plays a central role in osteoblast differentiation. In addition stimulates TMEM119, which upregulates the expression of ATF4 (PubMed:24362451).

Product Notes

The BMP2 bmp2 (Catalog #AAA844172) is an Active Protein produced from Human 293 cell expressed and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's BMP-2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BMP2 bmp2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BMP-2, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
