Related Product Information for IL-34 active protein
IL-34 is a homodimeric cytokine that is expressed in a range of tissues including spleen, heart, brain, liver, kidney, lung, ovary, thymus, testis, small intestine, prostate and colon. IL-34 is a ligand for colony-stimulating factor-1 receptor (CSF1R), which also binds to CSF-1. It specifically binds CD14+ monocytes, promotes survival and proliferation of human peripheral blood monocytes, and stimulates macrophage colony formation by human bone marrow cells. IL-34, like human CSF-1 stimulates phosphorylation of MAPK1/ERK2 and MAPK3/ERK1. Recombinant human IL-34 is a 52.5 kDa homodimeric glycoprotein consisting of 460 amino acid residues, including a C-terminal His-Tag.

NCBI Description

Interleukin-34 is a cytokine that promotes the differentiation and viability of monocytes and macrophages through the colony-stimulating factor-1 receptor (CSF1R; MIM 164770) (Lin et al., 2008 [PubMed 18467591]).[supplied by OMIM, May 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Cytokine that promotes the proliferation, survival and differentiation of monocytes and macrophages. Promotes the release of proinflammatory chemokines, and thereby plays an important role in innate immunity and in inflammatory processes. Plays an important role in the regulation of osteoclast proliferation and differentiation, and in the regulation of bone resorption. Signaling via CSF1R and its downstream effectors stimulates phosphorylation of MAPK1/ERK2 AND MAPK3/ERK1. Ref.1 Ref.6 Ref.7 Ref.8

Subunit structure: Homodimer. Interacts with CSF1R. Ref.1 Ref.6 Ref.8

Subcellular location: Secreted Ref.1.

Tissue specificity: Detected in the sinusoidal epithelium in the red pulp of spleen (at protein level). Predominantly expressed in spleen. Also detected in a range of other tissues including heart, brain, lung, liver, kidney, thymus, testis, ovary, small intestine, prostate and colon. Ref.1

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the IL-34 family.

Product Notes

The IL-34 il34 (Catalog #AAA692023) is an Active Protein produced from HEK 293 Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human IL-34 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: NEPLEMWPLT QNEECTVTGF LRDKLQYRSR LQYMKHYFPI NYKISV PYEG VFRIANVTRL QRAQVSEREL RYLWVLVSLS ATESVQDVLL E GHPSWKYLQ EVETLLLNVQ QGLTDVEVSP KVESVLSLLN APGPNLK LVR PKALLDNCFR VMELLYCSCC KQSSVLNWQD CEVPSPQSCS PE PSLQYAAT QLYPPPPWSP SSPPHSTGSV RPVRAQGEGL LPHHHHHH HH. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-34, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
