Related Product Information for GALNT2 / GalNAc-T2 recombinant protein
Background: GALNT2, also known as GalNAc-T2, is a member of the GalNAc-transferases family. Members of this family transfer an N-acetyl galactosamine to the hydroxyl group of a serine or threonine residue in the first step of O-linked oligosaccharide biosynthesis. GALNT2 may play a role in lipid metabolism. It catalyzes the initial reaction in O-linked oligosaccharide biosynthesis, the transfer of an N-acetyl-D-galactosamine residue to a serine or threonine residue on the protein receptor. GALNT2 has a broad spectrum of substrates for peptides such as EA2, Muc5AC, Muc1a, Muc1b.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the human GALNT2 (NP_004472.1) (Lys52-Gln571) was expressed with an N-terminal polyhistidine tag.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the glycosyltransferase 2 protein family. Members of this family initiate mucin-type O-glycoslation of peptides in the Golgi apparatus. The encoded protein may be involved in O-linked glycosylation of the immunoglobulin A1 hinge region. This gene may influence triglyceride levels, and may be involved Type 2 diabetes, as well as several types of cancer. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Product Notes

The GALNT2 / GalNAc-T2 galnt2 (Catalog #AAA2545249) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant human GALNT2 comprises 540 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 61.6 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 57-65 and 46 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GALNT2 / GalNAc-T2 galnt2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GALNT2 / GalNAc-T2, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
