Related Product Information for PGAM1 active protein
Description: PGAM1 Mouse Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 278 amino acids (1-254) and having a molecular mass of 31.4kDa.PGAM1 is fused to a 24 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
Introduction: PGAM1 is part of the phosphoglycerate mutase family. PGAM1 is an essential component of glucose and 2, 3-BPGA (2, 3-bisphosphoglycerate) metabolism and catalyzes the reversible reaction of 3-phosphoglycerate (3-PGA) to 2-phosphoglycerate (2-PGA) in the glycolytic pathway. PGAM1 is a dimeric enzyme containing, in different tissues, different proportions of a slow-migrating muscle (MM) isozyme, a fast-migrating brain (BB) isozyme, and a hybrid form (MB). PGAM1 mutations lead to muscle phosphoglycerate mutase deficiency, a.k.a. glycogen storage disease X.

Uniprot Description

PGAM1: Interconversion of 3- and 2-phosphoglycerate with 2,3- bisphosphoglycerate as the primer of the reaction. Can also catalyze the reaction of EC 5.4.2.4 (synthase) and EC 3.1.3.13 (phosphatase), but with a reduced activity. Homodimer. In mammalian tissues there are two types of phosphoglycerate mutase isozymes: type-M in muscles and type-B in other tissues. Belongs to the phosphoglycerate mutase family. BPG- dependent PGAM subfamily.

Protein type: Carbohydrate Metabolism - glycolysis and gluconeogenesis; EC 3.1.3.13; EC 5.4.2.11; EC 5.4.2.4; Isomerase; Phosphatase (non-protein)

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19|19 C3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol; membrane; myelin sheath; nucleus

Molecular Function: 2,3-bisphosphoglycerate-dependent phosphoglycerate mutase activity; phosphoglycerate mutase activity; protein kinase binding

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Phosphoglycerate Mutase 1, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
