Related Product Information for MCP-5 (CCL12) active protein
MCP-5 or CCL12 is a cloned mouse CC chemokine most closely related to human MCP1 (66% amino acid sequence identity in the mature protein). Mouse MCP-5 encodes a 104 amino acid residue precursor protein with a 22 aa residue predicted hydrophobic signal sequence that is cleaved to generate a 82 aa residue mature protein. MCP-5 is expressed constitutively in the thymus and lymph nodes. Under inflammatory conditions, its expression is also induced in activated macrophages and mast cells. The gene for mouse MCP1 has been mapped to the CC chemokine cluster on chromosome 11. Recombinant MCP-5 has been shown to be a potent chemoattractant for monocytes and lymphocytes but not neutrophils. At high concentrations, MCP-5 will also chemoattract eosinophils. MCP-5 has been found to be a functional ligand for CCR2 but not CCR1, CCR3 or CCR5.

Uniprot Description

Function: Major secreted protease of mast cells with suspected roles in vasoactive peptide generation, extracellular matrix degradation, and regulation of gland secretion.

Catalytic activity: Preferential cleavage: Phe-|-Xaa > Tyr-|-Xaa > Trp-|-Xaa > Leu-|-Xaa.

Subcellular location: Secreted. Cytoplasmic granule. Note: Secretory granules. Ref.6

Tissue specificity: Mast cells.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the peptidase S1 family. Granzyme subfamily.Contains 1 peptidase S1 domain.

Sequence caution: The sequence CAA48705.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.

Product Notes

The MCP-5 (CCL12) cma1 (Catalog #AAA691920) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse MCP-5 (CCL12) reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: GPDAVSTPVT CCYNVVKQKI HVRKLKSYRR ITSSQCPREA VIFRTI LDKE ICADPKEKWV KNSINHLDKT SQTFILEPSC LG. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MCP-5 (CCL12), Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
