Related Product Information for AITRL active protein
AITRL, a member of the TNF superfamily, is expressed in endothelial cells, and signals through the AITR receptor. AITRL regulates T-cell proliferation and survival, and effectuates the interaction between T lymphocytes and endothelial cells. The AITRL gene codes for a type II transmembrane protein comprised of 177 amino acids, including a 28 amino acid cytoplasmic region, a 21 amino acid transmembrane domain and a 128 amino acid extracellular domain. Recombinant human soluble AITRL is a 14.3 kDa protein, containing 126 amino acid residues corresponding to the extracellular domain of AITRL.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This cytokine is a ligand for receptor TNFRSF18/AITR/GITR. It has been shown to modulate T lymphocyte survival in peripheral tissues. This cytokine is also found to be expressed in endothelial cells, and is thought to be important for interaction between T lymphocytes and endothelial cells. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Cytokine that binds to TNFRSF18/AITR/GITR. Regulates T-cell responses. Can function as costimulator and lower the threshold for T-cell activation and T-cell proliferation. Important for interactions between activated T-lymphocytes and endothelial cells. Mediates activation of NF-kappa-B. Ref.8 Ref.9

Subunit structure: Homodimer

By similarity. Homotrimer. Ref.9

Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein Ref.8.

Tissue specificity: Expressed at high levels in the small intestine, ovary, testis, kidney and endothelial cells.

Induction: Up-regulated after stimulation by bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS).

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the tumor necrosis factor family.

Caution: It is uncertain whether Met-1 or Met-23 is the initiator.

Product Notes

The AITRL tnfsf18 (Catalog #AAA691626) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human AITRL reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: ETAKEPCMAK FGPLPSKWQM ASSEPPCVNK VSDWKLEILQ NGLYLI YGQV APNANYNDVA PFEVRLYKNK DMIQTLTNKS KIQNVGGTYE L HVGDTIDLI FNSEHQVLKN NTYWGIILLA NPQFI. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "AITRL, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
