Host
E Coli
Purity/Purification
>95% as determined by SDS-PAGE
Form/Format
Lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered 20 mM PB,100 mM NaCl solution pH 7.5.
Sequence Length
128
Bioactivity
Determined by its ability to chemoattract human monocytes using a concentration range of 2.0-40.0 ng/mL.
Endotoxin Level
<1.0 EU/ug of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method.
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at-70 degree C. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2-8 degree C for one month, or at-20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Related Product Information for NAP-2 active protein
The chemokine neutrophil-activating peptide 2 (NAP-2) is a 70-amino acid residue polypeptide that is formed from platelet-derived precursors by proteolytic processing. Mature NAP-2 stimulates various effector functions of polymorphonuclear neutrophil granulocytes (PMN) including directed chemotactic migration, exocytosis of lysosomal enzymes and secondary granule contents, and up-regulation of adhesion receptors. NAP-2 has been assigned to a subfamily now termed alpha-chemokines. The alpha-chemokines contain four cysteine residues at highly conserved positions which enclose the core region of the molecules. The first two cysteines are separated by a single amino acid, forming a motif (CXC) that distinguishes the alpha-chemokine from the beta-chemokine subfamily, where these cysteines are in directly adjacent position.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a platelet-derived growth factor that belongs to the CXC chemokine family. This growth factor is a potent chemoattractant and activator of neutrophils. It has been shown to stimulate various cellular processes including DNA synthesis, mitosis, glycolysis, intracellular cAMP accumulation, prostaglandin E2 secretion, and synthesis of hyaluronic acid and sulfated glycosaminoglycan. It also stimulates the formation and secretion of plasminogen activator by synovial cells. The protein also is an antimicrobial protein with bactericidal and antifungal activity. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]

Uniprot Description

PPBP: LA-PF4 stimulates DNA synthesis, mitosis, glycolysis, intracellular cAMP accumulation, prostaglandin E2 secretion, and synthesis of hyaluronic acid and sulfated glycosaminoglycan. It also stimulates the formation and secretion of plasminogen activator by human synovial cells. NAP-2 is a ligand for CXCR1 and CXCR2, and NAP-2, NAP-2(73), NAP-2(74), NAP-2(1-66), and most potent NAP-2(1-63) are chemoattractants and activators for neutrophils. TC-1 and TC-2 are antibacterial proteins, in vitro released from activated platelet alpha-granules. CTAP-III(1-81) is more potent than CTAP-III desensitize chemokine-induced neutrophil activation. Belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family.

Product Notes

The NAP-2 ppbp (Catalog #AAA4159699) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NAP-2 (PPBP) (CXCL7), Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
