Human
Protein Length
The recombinant human IL17A consists of 137 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 15.7 KDa. It migrates as an approximately 16 KDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.
Activity
Measured by its ability to induce IL-6 secretion by NIH?3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblast cells in the presense of 20 ng/mL TNFalpha. The ED50for this effect is 0.5-2.5 ng/mL.
Usage Notes
Always centrifuge tubes before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Human IL17 protein in sterile ddH2O not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Preparation and Storage
Item should be stored desiccated below -20 degree C. Upon reconstitution, the protein should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -20 degree C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Related Product Information for IL-17 active protein
IL17, also known as IL17a, is a cytokine belongs to the IL-17 family. Cytokines are proteinaceous signaling compounds that are major mediators of the immune response. They control many different cellular functions including proliferation, differentiation and cell survival/apoptosis but are also involved in several pathophysiological processes including viral infections and autoimmune diseases. Cytokines are synthesized under various stimuli by a variety of cells of both the innate (monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells) and adaptive (T- and B-cells) immune systems. The IL-17 family of cytokines includes six members, IL-17/IL-17A, IL-17B, IL-17C, IL-17D, IL-17E/IL-25, and IL-17F, which are produced by multiple cell types. IL-17 regulates the activities of NF-kappaB and mitogen-activated protein kinases. This cytokine can stimulate the expression of IL6 and cyclooxygenase-2 (PTGS2/COX-2), as well as enhance the production of nitric oxide (NO). High levels of IL-17 are associated with several chronic inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and multiple sclerosis.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a proinflammatory cytokine produced by activated T cells. This cytokine regulates the activities of NF-kappaB and mitogen-activated protein kinases. This cytokine can stimulate the expression of IL6 and cyclooxygenase-2 (PTGS2/COX-2), as well as enhance the production of nitric oxide (NO). High levels of this cytokine are associated with several chronic inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and multiple sclerosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The IL-17 il17a (Catalog #AAA9718710) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Amino acid sequence derived from mature form of human IL17A (Q16552) (Ile20-Ala 155) was expressed, with a N-terminal Met. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-17, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
