Related Product Information for CA2 active protein
Carbonic anhydrase 2 (CA2) is one of fourteen forms of human alpha carbonic anhydrases. Carbonic anhydrase catalyzes reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. CA2 is a cytosolic enzyme with the highest activity among all known CAs. Mutations in the CA2 gene result in the CA2 deficiency syndrome, an autosomal recessive disorder that produces osteopetrosis, renal tubular acidosis and cerebral calcification. Recombinant human CA2 was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is one of several isozymes of carbonic anhydrase, which catalyzes reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. Defects in this enzyme are associated with osteopetrosis and renal tubular acidosis. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2014]

Uniprot Description

Essential for bone resorption and osteoclast differentiation (). Reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. Can hydrate cyanamide to urea. Involved in the regulation of fluid secretion into the anterior chamber of the eye. Contributes to intracellular pH regulation in the duodenal upper villous epithelium during proton-coupled peptide absorption. Stimulates the chloride-bicarbonate exchange activity of SLC26A6.

Product Notes

The CA2 ca2 (Catalog #AAA203326) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Carbonic anhydrase 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CA2 ca2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MSHHWGYGKH NGPEHWHKDF PIAKGERQSP VDIDTHTAKY DPSLKPLSVS YDQATSLRIL NNGHAFNVEF DDSQDKAVLK GGPLDGTYRL IQFHFHWGSL DGQGSEHTVD KKKYAAELHL VHWNTKYGDF GKAVQQPDGL AVLGIFLKVG SAKPGLQKVV DVLDSIKTKG KSADFTNFDP RGLLPESLDY WTYPGSLTTP PLLECVTWIV LKEPISVSSE QVLKFRKLNF NGEGEPEELM VDNWRPAQPL KNRQIKASFK. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Carbonic anhydrase 2, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
