NCBI Description

YcdT mRNA is translationally repressed by CsrA (Jonas, 2008). ycdT overexpression causes a 20-fold increase in di-c-GMP and represses motility, but a mutant has little effect (Jonas, 2008). [More information is available at EcoGene: EG13866]. YcdT is a diguanylate cyclase that regulates motility; the effect on motility is probably mediated by the second messenger c-di-GMP . [More information is available at EcoCyc: G6532].

Uniprot Description

Probably catalyzes the synthesis of cyclic-di-GMP (c-di-GMP) via the condensation of 2 GTP molecules. Overexpression leads to a strong repression of swimming; swimming returns to normal when residues 359-360 are both mutated to Ala. Overexpression also leads to a 20-fold increase in c-di-GMP levels in vivo. Cyclic-di-GMP is a second messenger which controls cell surface-associated traits in bacteria.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Probable diguanylate cyclase YcdT (ycdT), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
